This weekend sees the end of the Easter vacation and the start of the exam season, and as a result we know that stress levels will be rising around campus. As well as the more usual Library support from services such as LibSmart, we wanted to find other ways to ease the pressure, and so through the first week of term we will be hosting a few activities aimed at providing some light relief and a chance to momentarily stop thinking about revision.
On Monday we will be giving away fruit at the Library Welcome Desk – after all, a healthy diet is one step away from a healthy body and a healthy mind. What’s more, in partnership with Well@Brunel and UBS there will be free fruit provided every weekday from Monday 27 April, so there’s no excuse for not having that healthy glow!
On Wednesday we’ll be inviting you to get back in touch with your inner child and get playful with us, as we bring out a creative play area and present Library Story Time with Ann Cummings, Library Services Director (Boss of All the Library).
Thursday will see us celebrating the joys of reading, with the launch of our Mini-Library and World Book Night giveaways, marked by a poetry reading by Rowena Macrae-Gibson, Head of Library Academic Services (Boss of All the Librarians).
On Friday we’re adding to the grand Brunel tradition of Rabbit Cafe with a one off Pooch-Party – come and say hello to Jack and Jill, proud owners of Rob Wannerton, Head of Customer Services in the Library. If you’ve left a dog at home and miss stroking fluffy ears, this is your chance. If you’re lucky, you might get to stroke a little furry tummy (we’re talking about the dogs). And if you’re not a fan of dogs, don’t worry – the Subject Librarians are working on a plan for you that involves a range of fluffy alternatives.
