As we enter Fresher’s Week and the start of the new academic year, the refurbishment programme is starting to draw to a close, and affected areas of the Library are being brought back into service as quickly as possible.
The latest updates are as follows:
Floor 0 – Now reopened. All furniture is back in place, and PCs are currently being reinstated. Some areas are still being used for Journals Storage, so please be careful to avoid areas with crates. These will be clear by the end of the week, and the ASK area will be returned to full use at this time. The Library Eating Area is now available again, and we expect the Coffee Nation service to resume tomorrow (Tuesday).
Floor 1 – Journals which had been stored on this floor have largely been returned now, and most areas are in service. Group Study Rooms are starting to be returned to use and will be fully available soon.
Floor 2 - All stock has now been returned to Floor 2, and the whole floor is now accessible for browsing. Please be aware that in the refurbished part of the building there are still some furniture moves underway, and PCs have not yet been returned – this will be happening soon.
Floor 3 – Continues to be closed while shelving is re-erected and journals are reshelved. The refurbished area of Floor 3 should be back in service next week, but the red zone will continue to be closed for redevelopment as we create the new Research Commons.
We will continue to update through the week, but please be aware that while we still have work underway there may be slight changes to stock and service availability for short periods of time.
